Ann-Maree Sweeney
COUNSELLOR
With over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse in HIV care, cancer services, and community psychiatry, Ann-Maree brings deep clinical insight and empathy to her counselling practice. After relocating from Sydney to the Central Coast just before the COVID lockdown, she offers online video sessions as well as face-to-face appointments — creating a safe, genuine space where you can be heard, supported, and empowered.
Ann-Maree completed postgraduate studies in counselling more than a decade ago and has since worked with diverse adult individuals and groups facing a wide range of mental health challenges. Her approach is authentic, non-judgemental, and grounded in real-world experience. She specialises in helping clients and their loved ones navigate compulsive behaviours and addictions — including substance use, sex and love, shopping, and more — with compassion and practical strategies.
Together, you can explore ways to manage anxiety, rebuild self-esteem, and strengthen your relationships, self-care routines, and work-life balance. Ann-Maree supports clients in releasing guilt, shame, grief, and loss that may be silently impacting their wellbeing. Her goal is to help you build emotional resilience and create a life that feels meaningful and worth living.
She uses a holistic, trauma-informed approach tailored to each unique individual, drawing from DBT, CBT, psychodynamic, and person-centred modalities.
