Week 1: Understanding Trauma
Clients will develop a clear understanding of trauma, including its definition, types, and impacts on emotional, physical, and social functioning. They will learn about the neurobiological effects of trauma and how these influence their responses and behaviours.
Week 2: Coping Strategies and Self-Care
Clients will acquire practical coping strategies for managing trauma-related stress, emotional overwhelm, and triggers. They will learn and practice grounding techniques, breathwork exercises, and self soothing methods to regulate their nervous system.
Week 3: Understanding Emotions and Cognitive Distortion
Clients will enhance their ability to identify and understand their emotions as part of the trauma recovery process. They will learn to recognise cognitive distortions that may perpetuate trauma-related beliefs and practice reframing unhelpful thought patterns.
Week 4: Working Through Trauma
Clients will explore techniques for safely processing trauma-related memories and emotions at their own pace. They will understand the importance of pacing and self-compassion in trauma recovery.
Week 5: Building Resilience and Support Networks
Clients will gain tools to cultivate resilience. They will learn to map and strengthen their support networks while setting healthy boundaries.
Week 6: Moving Forward and Sustaining Progress
Clients will reflect on their growth throughout the course and consolidate key learnings into actionable recovery plans. They will leave with strategies for sustaining progress, maintaining self-care practices, and continuing their healing journey with hope and empowerment.
